Our Mission
Protecting the bond that exists between community and local law enforcement through education, programs, and briefings, while offering support for families of fallen officers killed in the line of duty, and grants to law enforcement agencies for protective equipment, educational training, and memorials.
Community Grants for Protective Equipment
Law enforcement professionals play a critical role in maintaining public safety and upholding the law. However, their job often involves inherent risks and dangerous situations. To mitigate these risks and ensure the safety of police officers, the utilization of proper safety equipment becomes paramount.
Safety equipment not only protects police officers but also helps them establish a visible presence and assert their authority. Items like reflective vests, badges, and name tags ensure clear identification, allowing citizens to recognize law enforcement personnel in crowded or chaotic situations. Moreover, the presence of safety equipment itself can act as a deterrent, dissuading potential offenders and minimizing the risk of confrontations. The importance of safety equipment extends beyond physical protection. Equipping police officers with proper safety gear can positively impact their psychological well-being. Knowing they have access to the necessary tools and equipment necessary to navigate dangerous situations fosters a sense of confidence and reassurance among law enforcement
professionals. This, in turn, promotes mental resilience and enables officers to perform their duties effectively under challenging circumstances.
In 2022, the Law Enforcement Charitable Foundation committed to funding four $2,000 grants per year. The grants are earmarked to be used for specific safety equipment or training. Most recently, in May 2023, the Law Enforcement Charitable Foundation presented the Appleton Police Department with a $2,000 donation to be used for Tactical Emergency Medical Service(TEMS) Training. Tactical EMS (TEMS) is a comprehensive course in the applied science of tactical medicine and rescue techniques. The knowledge obtains regarding high-threat rescue techniques and tactical operational medical treatment modalities will empower the tactical
rescuer to become adaptable and successful in a high-threat environment. Additionally, the LECF provided support to the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, The End of Watch Memorial Golf Outing, and National Police Week.
Intelligence Brief
The Intelligence Brief is a semi-annual educational report for about 16,000 local police, county sheriffs, and state law enforcement. The LECF Intelligence Brief provides accurate information and intelligence, which many law-enforcement officers are not receiving. One important objective is to create better understanding about the people and organizations behind the war on police. This information will help law enforcement officers better protect their communities against civil disorder.
Educational Aid for Children of Fallen Officers
The children of fallen officers face a tough, uphill battle as they struggle to come to grips with life without their loved one. However, with the aid of a solid educational foundation, these children can succeed and go on to become our next generation of leaders. To help them receive this foundation, LECF would like to (depending upon donation levels) provide educational grants to qualified children of fallen officers to attend FreedomProject Academy (link: https://www.fpeusa.org/) (FPA).
